Braces at Ipswich Orthodontics
At our practice, we offer the latest orthodontic options to our patients to provide solutions that are as discreet, convenient, and comfortable as possible. It’s the same with our braces! We have multiple options to choose from, including metal, clear, and self-ligating braces.
Clear braces
Worried about the appearance of braces? Don’t be! We offer clear braces for patients of all ages. These work in the same way as traditional metal braces, except the brackets are made of clear ceramic to help them blend in with the colour of your smile.
While they are extra discreet, ceramic brackets tend to be a little more abrasive. Because of this, we often do a mix of ceramic braces on top and stainless steel braces on the bottom to prevent tooth wear and ensure the best results.
A discreet treatment with visible results
At our practice, we use Damon self-ligating braces. Damon brackets come with both metal and clear options, giving you control over the type of treatment you want. Damon brackets are small and round-edged, which gives them a more discreet appearance and comfortable feel.
During treatment, you will come in for regular adjustment appointments so Dr Hamilton-Ritchie can place small bends in the metal wire connecting your brackets. This places targeted pressure on your teeth that will slowly guide them into alignment.
Self-ligating braces
Self-ligating braces work a little differently than traditional braces. Usually, braces use a series of brackets, archwires, and rubber bands (modules) that hold everything together. But self-ligating brackets have a special sliding mechanism that eliminates the need for modules.
Because the archwire can slide freely through self-ligating brackets, it creates less friction and allows better tooth movement. What does this mean for you? It means increased comfort, faster treatment, and fewer adjustment appointments.
