Removable appliances are just like their name suggests removable. There are a variety of removable appliance types and they are generally used for simple tooth movements, retention (to hold the teeth in their position after the braces have been removed) or occasionally to correct the bite (e.g. Twin Block Appliance).
Remember! Even though it is called a removable appliance, it must be worn as instructed.
This appliance must be worn all the time. You can even eat with it in. The only time you take it out is when you are swimming or playing contact sports, and to clean it.
When you remove it for swimming and sport, put it in the box provided.
Don’t put it in your pocket – you’ll lose it.
If you wrap it up in a tissue, someone will throw it out.
Leaving it around the house allows pets to EAT THEM – they love these things!!!
The safest place for them is IN YOUR MOUTH!
Your speech will be slightly impaired at first. If you read out loud and with constant speech, your “lisp” will soon disappear.
