We have made this appliance for you to W I D E N your top jaw.
Your appliance is very easy to care for, just follow the instructions below:
1. Make sure you brush your teeth that have the bands around them. Keep this area clean at all times – rinse with water when you can’t brush.
2. Your plate will be turned on a regular basis-The Doctor will tell you how many times to turn it.
Find a time that is good for you to turn it. Some prefer mornings, some after school. Make sure you turn it at the SAME TIME each day. Normally every second day for the first week and then every day. This ensures a regular expansion process. REMEMBER – One full turn = when the hole appears at the top of the arrow.
Each time it is turned you will feel a little pressure, take a panadol or aspirin for any discomfort if it is needed.
STAY AWAY FROM STICKY FOODS – THEY WILL PULL THE BANDS OFF YOUR BACK TEETH — Not to mention getting stuck all over your plate!
If the bands become loose – contact us straight away and we will get you in to fix it.
We will keep a good eye on the expansion as you are turning it, to monitor the progress. Your appointments may be relatively close together to start with.
Your speech may be affected. This will improve with practice!!!
You may find for the first few days that you produce more saliva. It will take a few days to get used to but will soon settle.
A space may open between your front teeth, don’t worry as this space will close after expansion has completed.
